‘The Stack’ by

Martha Minton

I recently visited The Stack, a pavilion at Jesus College, University of Cambridge, designed and built by final-year MArch student Martha Minton. As a photographer, I had the opportunity to capture both the structure and a portrait of Martha with her work. Constructed entirely from reclaimed and surplus materials sourced through the College’s Maintenance Department, The Stack is a full-scale pavilion that reflects Martha's research into the reuse of exposition architecture. The benches, crafted from salvaged ceramic chimney pots, reference Sevillian clay traditions and connect to her broader investigation into repurposing disused World Exposition sites, specifically on Isla de la Cartuja in Seville.
